Behind the Minbar Podcast Ep2 - The Un-Mosqued Muslim
This energetic discussion touched on many topics, including Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, Careerism and its pitfalls, UK Muslims vs. US Muslims, how young Muslim women leave mosques 2x more than young Muslim men, and more.
A couple of months back, I had the great honor of being hosted on my dear friend Sheikh Mohammad Elshinawy's podcast, Behind the Minbar. I especially enjoyed working on this episode for a few reasons, I've known Sheikh Elshinawy for close to 20 years now. I still remember going to his lectures when I was in high school every Thursday night back in '07 and '08. Over the last few years as I've struggled through re-discovering my faith, Sheikh Elshinawy has been there as a steady and guiding presence. Recently, many Islamic creators and podcasts have exploded, and many are fantastic. Still, I believe that this podcast series is taking an issue that no one else is - how the mismanagement of mosques has affected Muslims in America and, more importantly, how this can be fixed.
